Zoom cloud recordings are saved in Zoom for 120 days from the date of creation before they are automatically deleted. For instructors who have recorded lectures and instructional content to the cloud that they would like to access again in the future you’ll need to save your cloud recordings in locations outside of Zoom.

There are two recommended options for storing Zoom Recordings:

  1. Download past cloud recordings from Zoom to your local hard drive computer then upload into a digital asset management solution, such as ASU’s MediaPlus.
  2. Automatically copy future recordings from your Zoom Cloud to your Dropbox account once the recording and transcoding processes are complete by enabling Zoom as a connected app in Dropbox.

Uploading Local Media Files to MediaPlus

MediaPlus is ASU’s multimedia hosting and distribution platform, built in partnership with Amazon Web Services. Faculty and staff users may upload an unlimited number of audio and video content to MediaPlus and share it with others directly or embed content into another location such as a Canvas course.

Auto-copy future Zoom recordings from the Cloud to Dropbox

Dropbox is a good way to archive and organize Zoom recordings for later use. If you have enabled cloud recording in Zoom, you can choose to have recordings of your meetings automatically copied to your Dropbox account. Note: Any Zoom meetings recorded prior to enabling this feature will NOT be copied to your Dropbox.

Learn how to enable the Dropbox auto-copy feature to save future recordings from the Zoom Cloud below or in the step by step guide.

Enable Dropbox to Auto-copy Zoom Recordings

  1. Sign in to www.dropbox.com and open your profile (face icon) in the upper-right corner.
  2. Open Dropbox Settings and click the Connected apps tab.
  3. Find the Zoom options, and click “Settings”.
  4. Check the box next to Copy Zoom cloud recordings to Dropbox. Click Update.
