How to Utilize Zoom Whiteboard

When you are presenting in a meeting on Zoom, you can use the whiteboard feature. Zoom has an On-The-Fly whiteboard option and a Prepared whiteboard option. 

Opening an On-The-Fly Whiteboard

  1. At the bottom of the meeting screen, there is a “Whiteboards” button. Click it, and all the created whiteboards you have made will be visible on this screen.
  2. Click the “+New” in the upper right corner to create a new whiteboard for this meeting. This will pull up a popup window with two questions.
    1. “How do you want to open the board?”
    2. “Do you want users to have access to the board after the meeting?”
  3. Make your selections and click “Open Board.” The whiteboard will populate in your meeting, and you may use the icons on the left side of the screen to interact with it throughout your meeting.

Creating and Opening a Prepared Whiteboard 

  1. Click on the Zoom icon on your computer desktop. Login if asked to by the Zoom platform using your ASUrite and password.
  2. From the Home page, go to the top right “More”  button. A drop-down menu will appear; click “Whiteboards.”
  3. Select the “+New”  button to create a new whiteboard.
    1. The “Templates”  window will appear, and you can select from the pre-made templates available. You can edit these templates to fit your needs in the next step.
    2. If you do not want to use a template, click the “X” in the upper right corner, and you should see the new whiteboard. Here you can edit it or add content.
  4. In the center top of the whiteboard, you can “rename” this board for future reference.
  5. To access a pre-made whiteboard in a Zoom meeting, open the meeting. At the bottom of the meeting screen, there is a “Whiteboards” button. Click it, and all the created whiteboards you have made will be visible on this screen.
  6. Click on the whiteboard icon for the whiteboard you want to use. This will pull up a popup window with two questions.
    1. “How do you want to open the board?”
    2. “Do you want users to have access to the board after the meeting?”
  7. Make your selections and click “Open Board.” The whiteboard will populate in your meeting, and you may use the icons on the left side of the screen to interact with it throughout your meeting.
